Bulgaria is bracing for severe weather conditions as orange-level alerts have been issued for six districts due to expected heavy rainfall on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The districts affected by the orange warnings include Kurdzhali, Haskovo, Yambol, Bourgas, Varna, and Shoumen, where the rainfall is anticipated to be particularly intense. In addition, yellow-level warnings cover most of the country, indicating potentially dangerous weather conditions.

According to the national weather forecast, Bulgaria will experience predominantly cloudy and rainy conditions on Tuesday. While central and eastern areas are likely to face intense rainfall, the precipitation in the southwest is expected to lessen and eventually cease. The forecast also predicts moderate northerly winds across the nation, which could temporarily strengthen in the eastern regions. Temperatures are expected to vary between 10°C and 15°C, with Sofia reaching around 11°C.

In the mountainous regions of Bulgaria, the weather is expected to be cloudy, windy, and rainy, with snowfall anticipated above elevations of approximately 1,700 meters. Significant precipitation is expected in areas such as the central Balkan Mountains, the Rhodope Mountains, Strandzha, and Sakar. Temperatures are forecast to be around 6°C at 1,200 meters and approximately 1°C at 2,000 meters.

The Black Sea coast is also under a weather advisory, with predictions of cloudy skies, rain, and strong winds, alongside the possibility of locally heavy precipitation in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures along the coast are expected to range from 15°C to 17°C, and sea temperatures are forecast to be between 20°C and 21°C. A yellow-level warning for strong winds and rough seas has been issued, urging residents and travelers to stay informed about the weather conditions and to exercise caution in areas impacted by heavy rain and strong winds.

Notably, Sofia City, along with the districts of Pernik, Kyustendil, and Blagoevgrad, are not currently under any weather warnings. However, the public is advised to remain vigilant and monitor updates from local authorities, given the potential for severe weather in other parts of the country.
