Running from June to August, the release schedule features anticipated titles like “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” “Supergirl,” and Christopher Nolan’s epic adaptation, “The Odyssey.” Audiences can expect an exciting mix of cinematic offerings that promise to captivate viewers with familiar characters and new tales.
One of the earliest entries, “Scary Movie,” hits theaters on June 5, marking the return of the parody franchise with its sixth installment. This film reunites several original team members to humorously critique modern horror hits such as “M3GAN,” “A Quiet Place,” “Get Out,” and “Sinners.” Another highlight is Steven Spielberg’s return to the science fiction genre with a new film exploring the possibility of extraterrestrial life already being on Earth. Starring Josh O’Connor as a cybersecurity expert, the story delves into a long-standing cover-up. On June 19, audiences can catch “The Death of Robin Hood,” a fresh take on the classic tale, and “Leviticus,” a horror narrative that confronts themes of conversion therapy and religious repression in a conservative Christian setting in Australia.
The same day, “Rose of Nevada” arrives, featuring George MacKay and Callum Turner as fishermen who embark on a time-bending adventure aboard a vessel that reappears after vanishing decades prior. June 26 brings “Supergirl,” with Milly Alcock stepping into the role of Kara Zor-El, expanding the DC cinematic universe as her character becomes embroiled in an interstellar conflict. Meanwhile, “Minions & Monsters,” set for a July 1 release, takes audiences back to 1920s Hollywood with a comedic prequel in the Despicable Me series where Minions attempt to create a monster movie.
July continues with Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Moana,” opening on July 10, starring Catherine Laga’aia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui.
