Spain’s Andalucia region is currently grappling with severe weather conditions, prompting authorities to extend an orange rain warning to more inland areas of Almeria and Malaga provinces. This escalation comes as heavy rainfall continues to affect parts of the region, posing a significant risk to local communities.

The orange alert, which signifies a heightened level of danger, now includes Almeria’s Valle del Almanzora and Los Velez areas, as well as the Antequera district in Malaga. This upgrade took effect at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, replacing the yellow-level warnings that were previously in place for these inland locations.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain vigilant, as the intense rainfall is expected to persist through Thursday night. Local authorities are urging people to adhere to emergency and weather guidance to ensure their safety amid the challenging conditions.

Particularly severe weather continues to impact Almeria’s Levante area, where the strongest rainfall conditions are concentrated. This region was already under higher-level weather alerts, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by communities in that part of Andalucia.
