Bulgaria is in the process of selecting its host city for the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, narrowing down the options to Sofia and Bourgas after assessing the technical capabilities and infrastructure of each contender. The cities of Varna and Plovdiv did not make it past the initial review phase, leaving just the capital city and the Black Sea port city in the running.
The opportunity to host the 2027 contest came as a result of Bulgaria’s victory at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest. This prestigious event will culminate in the announcement of the chosen host city by July 31. Planning is already in motion to ensure a smooth execution of the event, with appointments of key production staff set to be completed by the end of August. Furthermore, the confirmation of the event’s venue is scheduled for September, followed by the commencement of ticket sales at the start of 2027.
Organizers are focused on more than just logistics; they are also crafting the creative vision for the event. In addition, they aim to secure hotel arrangements to accommodate the influx of visitors and finalize infrastructure enhancements required to support the contest next May.
Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest is anticipated to provide substantial cultural, tourism, and economic advantages to the city that is ultimately selected.
